Digital Heating Mantles
Product Code : EL-HM-10682
Quick answer: The digital heating mantle is an electric heater shaped to cradle round bottom flasks, used for refluxing, distillation and controlled heating of liquids in chemistry labs. A PID microprocessor controller with an external temperature probe holds the set point up to 350 °C, and the element is anchored in glass fabric inside a rolled aluminium body. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for school, college and research laboratories.

How the digital heating mantle is used
A heating mantle surrounds the lower half of a round bottom flask with a flexible heating element, so heat enters over a wide area of glass instead of at a single hot spot. That even contact is why mantles are preferred to flat hot plates for curved flasks, and why the risk of the glass cracking stays low.
On this digital model the external probe reports the actual temperature to a PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller, which trims the power as the reading approaches the set point. The liquid therefore settles at the chosen temperature with little overshoot, which matters in refluxing, solvent recovery and temperature-sensitive preparations.
- Seat the round bottom flask in the mantle cavity and clamp its neck to the support rod.
- Place the external temperature probe in the liquid through a side neck or adapter.
- Enter the required temperature on the digital controller and switch on.
- Let the PID controller ramp up and hold the set point while the reaction or distillation runs.
- Switch off and allow the mantle to cool before lifting the flask out.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum temperature of the digital heating mantle?
It heats up to 350 °C. The PID controller holds the chosen set point using the reading from the external temperature probe.
Why use a heating mantle rather than a hot plate for a round bottom flask?
A flat hot plate touches a round bottom flask at one small point, while the mantle cradles the curved glass and spreads the heat over a wide area, giving even heating and a lower chance of cracking.
What comes with the digital heating mantle?
The external temperature probe, support rods and clamps are included, so the flask can be clamped securely while it is heated.
What is the price of the Digital Heating Mantles?
