How it is used
Stainless steel clamps are used where apparatus stays assembled for long periods or is exposed to heat, moisture and corrosive vapours, as in distillation rigs, reflux set-ups and support frames. The 18/10 grade keeps its finish, and the silicone coating on the prongs grips the glass without scratching it and copes with warm glassware better than a plain rubber lining.
The 190 mm length gives room to reach glassware set back from the stand rod. Choose the 0-80 mm clamp for flask necks, condensers and smaller round bottom flasks, and the 0-120 mm clamp for larger flask bodies.
- Fix the 12 mm rod in a bosshead on the stand or frame.
- Open the prongs and position the flask neck or body between them.
- Close the prongs evenly until the silicone-coated fingers hold the glass firmly.
- Recheck the grip once the rest of the apparatus is connected.
