Fixed Angle Rotor
Product Code : EL-C-10692
Quick answer: The Fixed Angle Rotor is a centrifuge rotor, designated 30-15, that holds 30 tubes of 15 mL at a fixed angle. It lets a compatible centrifuge process a large batch of 15 mL samples in one run, for pelleting cells and precipitates or separating serum, plasma and other mixtures. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for school, college, research and industrial laboratories.

How a fixed angle rotor works
In a fixed angle rotor the tube pockets are bored at a set angle to the spin axis, and the tubes stay at that angle throughout the run. When the rotor turns, particles in the sample move outward under centrifugal force, measured as relative centrifugal force (RCF), which rises with the radius and with the square of the speed. Because the tube is tilted, particles only have to travel a short distance before they strike the outer wall of the tube and slide down to form a pellet, so separations are usually quicker than in a swing-out rotor at the same speed.
This rotor takes 30 tubes of 15 mL, which makes it suited to batch work: preparing many samples for a class practical, spinning down precipitates in analytical chemistry, or separating blood and body-fluid samples in a teaching or clinical laboratory.
- Fill the 15 mL tubes to equal volumes and check they are balanced.
- Load them in opposite pockets so the rotor is evenly weighted.
- Fit the rotor securely on the centrifuge drive and close the lid.
- Set the speed and time within the limits of the centrifuge and rotor, then start the run.
- After the rotor stops, remove the tubes without disturbing the pellet.

Frequently asked questions
How many tubes does the fixed angle rotor hold?
It holds 30 tubes of 15 mL each.
What is the difference between a fixed angle and a swing-out rotor?
A fixed angle rotor holds the tubes at a constant tilt, giving shorter sedimentation paths and faster pelleting. A swing-out rotor lets the tubes swing to horizontal, so the pellet forms flat at the tube bottom.
What is the price of the fixed angle rotor?
Prices are not published on the website. Add the fixed angle rotor to the Enquiry Cart with the Add To Cart button on this page, or email [email protected] with the house code EL-C-10692 and the quantity, to receive a quotation.
Does Lab Exports manufacture the fixed angle rotor?
Yes. Lab Exports manufactures the fixed angle rotor at its works at 11/315, Lalita Park, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi 110092, under house code EL-C-10692.
