How it is used
Uterine curettes are used in dilatation and curettage (D and C) and in the surgical management of incomplete miscarriage. After the cervix has been dilated, the curette is passed into the uterine cavity and drawn back along each wall in turn, so the sharp edge of the spoon lifts retained tissue or endometrium, which collects in the fenestrated spoon and is withdrawn.
The rigid shank transmits a controlled, even pressure, and the 26 cm shaft gives the reach needed for uterine access. The 12 mm spoon width suits general curettage.
