How it is used
In an electrolysis or electrochemical cell set-up the electrode has to stay firmly in place in the electrolyte while a lead carries current to or from it. The Electrode Connector does both jobs: the round electrode is pushed into the plastic body and clamped by the contact screw, and a 4 mm safety lead plugs into the socket on that same screw. Because the body is acid-resistant plastic, splashes of dilute acid or salt solution do not attack it.
A set of connectors lets students change between electrodes of different materials without rewiring the circuit, which saves time when comparing electrolysis products or the voltages of simple cells.
