How the dental scaler is used
Scaling is the routine removal of calculus, the hard mineral deposit that builds up when plaque is not cleaned away. The working tip of the scaler is placed against the tooth just beyond the edge of the deposit and moved with a short, controlled pull stroke that lifts the calculus off the enamel.
