The Rheostat Constantine (Eureka) Wire from Lab Exports features sliders with Phosphorous-Bronze contacts, a double contact system moving smoothly on the sliding rod, and a heavy brass block for smooth movement and long life. The support consists of a Bakelite or aluminium moulded support that tightens the pipe on each side with rod and nuts, and the pipes are made from special porcelain. Layers of electrically oxidised Constantine (Eureka) wire are wound on an insulated heat-resistant porcelain pipe according to the length required. One terminal connects to the sliding contact and the other two to the ends of the winding, enabling use as a variable resistance or potential divider, with three brass terminals provided.
