How it is used
The vessel stands on the ceramic-coated plate with a stir bar inside. A magnet turned by the motor below the plate pulls the bar round, and strong magnetic coupling keeps it seated on the bottom of the container instead of jumping at higher speeds. The motor holds the chosen speed as the load changes, for example when a solution thickens or a solid dissolves.
Heating and the safety circuit are independent: if the plate ever reaches 350 °C, the separate circuit stops heating whatever the main setting. The enclosed IP42 assembly protects the electronics against small solid particles and dripping liquid, which suits routine bench use.
- Place the beaker or flask centrally on the work plate with a stir bar up to 80 mm long.
- Switch on and raise the speed gradually until the bar turns smoothly.
- Set the heating temperature within the room-temperature to 340 °C range.
