Digital LCD Ammeter
Product Code : SCL-LM-11096
Quick answer: The Digital LCD Ammeter is a bench-top meter that shows the current in a circuit as a number on an LCD, so students read it directly without interpreting a pointer scale. It is connected in series in DC circuit practicals such as Ohm's law, lamp loads and series circuits, and has red and black polarity terminals. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for schools, colleges and universities.

How it is used
An ammeter measures the current flowing through a circuit, so it must be placed in series, where the whole current passes through it. A good ammeter has a very low resistance, so inserting it hardly changes the current being measured. With an LCD display the value appears as a number, which removes parallax and scale-reading errors and lets students concentrate on how the current changes when the circuit is altered.
- Check that the expected circuit current is within the range of the meter.
- Switch off the power supply before making connections.
- Break the circuit at the point of interest and connect the ammeter in series, with the red terminal towards the positive side of the supply.
- Switch on, read the LCD and record the value; change the resistance, voltage or load and read again.
- Switch off before disconnecting the leads.
