How it is used
The kit is planned so that one student or pair has every tool needed for a standard school practical. The scalpels, scissors and razor handle the cutting; the forceps and the small chain hook hold tissue back; the four needles separate and tease structures; and the blow pipe inflates hollow organs. For the microscope stage, the section lifter moves thin sections into the watch glass and onto the plain slide, where the cover glass completes the mount.
Because the glassware is packed in the same box as the instruments, a class can go from dissection to a temporary mount without a separate issue of apparatus.
- Open the specimen with the scissors or a scalpel and hold the tissue back with the chain hook.
- Separate structures with the needles and forceps and examine them with the magnifier.
- Take a thin section with the razor and mount it on the slide under the cover glass.
