How it is used
Squeezing the rubber teat pushes air out of the tube; when the teat is released with the tip under the liquid, the pressure difference draws liquid up into the glass. Gentle pressure then releases it one drop at a time. This makes the dropper the usual tool for adding a stain such as iodine or methylene blue to a slide, adding indicator to a titration flask, or adding a reagent in a food test.
Borosilicate glass resists heat and chemical attack better than soda glass, so it suits droppers used with stronger reagents, while soda/neutral glass is an economical choice for routine work.
