Tuning Fork Set of 8
Product Code : SCL-HM-11242
Quick answer: The tuning fork set of 8 contains eight tuning forks for sound experiments. Struck gently, each fork vibrates at its own fixed frequency, so the set lets students compare frequency with pitch, show resonance with an air column or sonometer, and hear beats between two forks. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for schools, colleges and universities.
Specifications
| Parameter | Detail |

Individual fork frequencies, material and finish are confirmed with the quotation; a striker, resonance box, case and frequency chart are not assumed to be included.
How the set is used
When a fork is struck, its prongs vibrate in and out and push on the surrounding air, sending out a sound wave of one steady frequency. A higher frequency is heard as a higher pitch, so sounding the forks one after another lets students hear pitch rise with frequency. Because each fork gives an almost pure tone, a set of forks is also the usual source for resonance experiments with air columns and sonometers.
- Choose the forks needed for the experiment.
- Hold each fork by the stem without touching the prongs.
- Strike one prong gently with a soft striker or rubber pad, never on a hard surface.
- Hold the vibrating fork near the listening position or place its stem on a resonator.
- Stop the vibration by touching the prongs before changing forks.
Beats are heard when two forks of slightly different frequency sound together: the loudness rises and falls at a rate equal to the difference between the two frequencies. A small piece of wax on one prong lowers a fork's frequency slightly, a standard way to produce beats from two forks of the same frequency.

Frequently asked questions
What are beats and how does the tuning fork set show them?
Beats are the regular rise and fall in loudness heard when two sounds of slightly different frequency are combined. The number of beats per second equals the difference in frequency of the two forks.
Are the frequencies of the eight forks listed?
The individual frequencies are confirmed with the quotation. State the frequencies needed for the planned experiments when making an enquiry.
What is the price of the tuning fork set?
Prices are not published on the website. Add the tuning fork set to the Enquiry Cart with the Add To Cart button on this page, or email [email protected] with the house code SCL-HM-11242 and the quantity, to receive a quotation.
Does Lab Exports manufacture the tuning fork set?
Yes. Lab Exports manufactures the tuning fork set at its works at 11/315, Lalita Park, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi 110092, under house code SCL-HM-11242.
