How the syringe is used
The 5 ml syringe covers most intramuscular and intravenous doses given on a ward: antibiotics reconstituted from powder, analgesics, anti-emetics and flushes. Its barrel is large enough to mix a dose and small enough to read it accurately, with printed intervals of 0.2 or 0.5 ml between the numbered 1.0 ml lines.
