Electronic Daniel Cell
Product Code : SCL-EAE-11163
Quick answer: The Electronic Daniell Cell is a solid-state substitute for the wet Daniell cell, giving a regulated 1.08 V DC output with no copper sulphate or zinc sulphate solutions to prepare. It is used as a steady reference in potentiometer EMF comparisons and as a low-voltage source in bridge and Ohm's law circuits. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for schools, colleges and universities.
Specifications

| Protection | Overload and short-circuit protection |
| Construction | Solid-state circuit in an insulated, impact-resistant casing |
How it is used
A chemical Daniell cell has a zinc electrode in zinc sulphate solution and a copper electrode in copper sulphate solution, separated by a porous pot. It is valued in the laboratory because its EMF of about 1.1 V is steadier than that of many simple cells, but the solutions must be made up, the electrodes cleaned and the cell dismantled after use. The electronic unit gives a fixed 1.08 V straight from its sockets, ready at the start of a practical.
Its main use is with the potentiometer. Balanced against the potentiometer wire it gives a balancing length l1; a Leclanche cell, or its electronic substitute, gives l2, and the ratio of EMFs is E1/E2 = l1/l2. Because its output is known, the same arrangement can also calibrate the potentiometer wire, finding the potential drop per centimetre before an unknown voltage is measured.
