How the model is used in teaching
The torso holds most of the body's major organs in two main cavities. The thoracic cavity contains the heart and lungs and is separated by the diaphragm from the abdominal cavity below, which houses the digestive organs and the kidneys. A torso model lets students see organs in their true positions relative to one another, something that is hard to grasp from flat diagrams.
