Using burette stands and clamps in titration
In an acid-base or redox titration the burette must hang vertically above the titration flask so that readings are taken at eye level and the tap can be worked with one hand. A burette stand or a clamp on a retort rod provides that support: the hardwood stands have cork-lined clamps, and the double clamp holds two burettes side by side, for example one for the acid and one for the alkali.
