Petrol Engine Model Four Stroke
Product Code : SCL-AM-11274
Quick answer: The Petrol Engine Model Four Stroke is a teaching model of a spark-ignition engine that shows the piston, connecting rod, crankshaft and valves moving through the intake, compression, power and exhaust strokes. It is used in physics, automotive and heat-engine lessons. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for schools, colleges and universities.

How the model is used in teaching
A four-stroke petrol engine completes one working cycle in four strokes of the piston, which take two full turns of the crankshaft. Turning the model slowly lets students follow each stroke and see how the connecting rod converts the up-and-down motion of the piston into rotation of the crankshaft. The strokes shown are:
- Intake: the inlet valve opens and the descending piston draws the fuel-air mixture into the cylinder.
- Compression: both valves close and the rising piston compresses the mixture.
- Power: near the top of the stroke a spark ignites the mixture, and the expanding gases drive the piston down.
- Exhaust: the exhaust valve opens and the rising piston pushes the burnt gases out.
Only one stroke in four delivers power, so the flywheel stores energy to carry the crankshaft through the other three. The idealised version of this cycle is the Otto cycle, which links the model to heat-engine theory and efficiency in thermodynamics lessons.
Key features
- Shows all four strokes of the petrol-engine cycle in the correct sequence
- Makes piston, connecting rod, crankshaft and valve movement visible
- Illustrates valve timing and the conversion of reciprocating to rotary motion
- Supports lessons on spark ignition, combustion and the Otto cycle
- Suited to teacher demonstrations, technical classes and STEM exhibitions

Frequently asked questions
What are the four strokes shown by the petrol engine model?
Intake, compression, power and exhaust. The crankshaft turns twice for each complete cycle.
How does a petrol engine differ from a diesel engine?
A petrol engine ignites a compressed fuel-air mixture with a spark, while a diesel engine compresses air alone until it is hot enough to ignite fuel injected into it.
What is the price of the four-stroke petrol engine model?
Prices are not published on the website. Add the four-stroke petrol engine model to the Enquiry Cart with the Add To Cart button on this page, or email [email protected] with the house code SCL-AM-11274 and the quantity, to receive a quotation.
Does Lab Exports manufacture the four-stroke petrol engine model?
Yes. Lab Exports manufactures the four-stroke petrol engine model at its works at 11/315, Lalita Park, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi 110092, under house code SCL-AM-11274.
